Best Playmakers: Weddington has won two of the past three state titles, including last year. Their high-powered offense lost a lot of pieces, but the ones that remain will give opposing coaches plenty of indigestion with (from left) Chase Turner, Will Shipley, Dante Casicola, Landyn Backey and Malik Mustapha.
Best Secondary: Metrolina Christian has always been an explosive offensive team under coach Thomas Langley, but they turned the corner last season because of their defense. That won’t change this season with the county’s best secondary, featuring (from left) Luke Roffler, Colby Girard, Tommy Miller and Jadus Davis.
Best Offense: Monroe is going to turn some heads this season with their collection of skill guys that will rival anyone in the county. The team will take to the air a lot with new quarterback Matt Bennett, but he’ll succeed no matter how he gets the ball to (standing, from left) Salen Streater, Bennett, Shaleak Knotts, Jack Crump, Tezien Grier and (kneeling) Jordan Black.
