MONROE – Election Day takes place 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at precincts throughout the county.
The Union County Board of Elections adopted a resolution on Aug. 13 affecting voters in a few communities:
• Monroe voters in Precinct 025 (Rock Rest Elementary School) shall vote at Precinct 003 (St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 909 Circe Drive, Monroe).
• Marvin voters in Precinct 028C (Marvin AME Zion Church) shall vote at Precinct 028B (Marvin Elementary School, 9700 Marvin School Road, Waxhaw).
• Wingate and Marshville voters in Precinct 036 (Crossroads AME Zion Church) shall vote at Precinct 008 (Wingate Community Center, 315 W. Elm St., Wingate).
Residents who have not registered to vote by Oct. 11 may register and vote during one-stop voting.
One-stop voting takes place 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Nov. 1 at the Union County Library’s Griffin Room, 316-A. E. Windsor Road, Monroe.
Voters need to bring proof of identity and address, such as a North Carolina driver’s license; government-issued photo ID; or utility bill, bank statement or payroll stub showing the voter’s name and address.
Between Oct. 16 and 21, 684 residents cast ballots for the Nov. 5 municipal election. Other key dates include: Oct. 29 (absentee ballot request deadline), Nov. 1 (early voting ends), Nov. 5 (deadline for absentee ballot return) and Nov. 15 (canvass)
