The Hub could yield hotel, 650 apartments

INDIAN TRAIL – The Moser Group plans to submit a rezoning request to develop The Hub @ Downtown Indian Trail, which will consist of a hotel with up to 112 rooms and 650 urban-style apartments.

Mackenzie Moser, a broker with The Moser Group, said the project offers a dense walkable front door for the town and creates a live-work-play environment adjacent to the new town hall, Carolina Courts and Union Aquatics Center.

“This creates a true downtown feel with the density and mixes of uses,” Moser said. “This community will have an energetic lifestyle. It will be a place for millennials. It keeps young ones at home and helps businesses thrive – a true live-work-play community.”

Moser provided details of the proposal to the town council May 14 to get feedback prior to applying for rezoning. The project sits on 28.2 acres touching U.S. 74, Chestnut Parkway, North Indian Trail Road and Nelson Lemon Drive.

The site plan shows the hotel neighboring the Taco Bell near East Independence Boulevard and North Indian Trail Road.

The hotel will consist of four to five stories with up to 112 rooms. Described by Moser as a “modern hotel brand,” it will include a salt-water resort-style pool, coffee bar, fitness center and lounge area.

The Moser Group is partnering with Greystar to develop the apartments.

Moser said the three and four-story flat-roof apartments will take on an urban style that’ll add to the ambiance of downtown.

She shared preliminary pricing for the apartments, ranging from $1,075 for a 560-square-foot one-bedroom unit to $1,800 for a 1,460-square-foot three-bedroom unit. They’ll include granite countertops, designer light fixtures, high-end appliances.

Councilman Mike Head said his biggest concern was the number of apartments in the project. He doesn’t want to see Indian Trail’s uptown area get overloaded with apartments.

Many of Head’s questions during the development workshop had to do with the project timeline.

The first phase of the project will consist of the hotel, 350 apartments, clubhouse and amenities package. The second phase will follow with the remaining 300 apartments, clubhouse and amenities.

This is absurd..no it will not change the culture of Independence blvd….it will only add more traffic and people to an overloaded town but since the council is on the Moser group payroll, it will get passed

Wasn’t this the plan 15(ish) years ago when the lot on India Trail road between the railroad tracks and the baseball fields were purchased? That all fell through because new council members insisted the citizens must vote on this. Does Indian Trail still own this land? The beautiful home was removed and the land still sits empty. The shopping area, apartments, senior housing and walking access for beautiful downtown Indian Trail – poof!

What the heck is up with Indian Trail and Stallings council members? Enough of this ridiculous building! Fix all the dadgum road issues first.

Who do they think can afford to live there, $1100 for less than 600 sq feet, gimme a break! No wonder younger folks can’t afford to move out! We already need new roads, widening of roads for existing new shopping centers, how about we fix that issue first!
