The Wingate baseball team exploded for 33 runs on March 24 in a 33-17 win over West Virginia State University. Sophomore first baseban Brian Yeung went seven-for-seven with seven runs and seven RBIs in the Bulldogs win. Yeung also belted two home runs and tied a South Atlantic Conference record with three doubles in the game. Yeung’s seven runs and seven RBIs also are conference records.
Bulldog Dodson McPherson also had a big night with a home run, five RBIs and four runs. Designated hitter Jacob Karr went three-for-four with a double, a home run, five RBIs and four runs. Outfielder Cale Rogers notched four hits, recorded three runs and plated four RBIs.
The Bulldogs’ offensive outburst set several single-game SAC records, including runs (33), hits (33) and RBI (32). The 50 combined runs in the game also is a new standard.
The Bulldogs improved to 22-13 with the win.
