INDIAN TRAIL – The town is engaging the community to create the Indian Trail Veterans Memorial Garden.
The project, a partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2423, seeks to create a lasting tribute to military veterans in the quad in front of Indian Trail Town Hall. The design includes a wall of plaques honoring veterans and their service.
“The Town of Indian Trail has always been proud of our strong relationship with our veterans and our local VFW Post,” said Mike Parks, communications director. “These men and women are the backbone of our community, and they continue to give back to our town through their volunteerism and leadership well after their military service concluded.”
Donations for a memorial plaque will begin at $100, with proceeds benefiting the project’s construction. Donations will be accepted from those not interested in a plaque but want to support the project. A golf tournament will be held June 30 to raise money.

“Our finest ideals and values as a nation are embodied in the members of our military whose sacrifices too often go unnoticed and unacknowledged,” Mayor Pro Tem David Cohn said. “It is our goal to build the Indian Trail Veterans Memorial Garden which will serve as a permanent statement of our community’s gratitude and support for those whose lives have been dedicated to the protection of our freedom.”
