‘Classical + Christmas’ concert at St. Margaret’s

WAXHAW – St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church and Skye Pro Musica will present a “Classical + Christmas” concert at the church. The concert takes place on two days: Nov. 30, a Friday, at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2, a Sunday, at 3 p.m.

The concert will feature Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “Trio in G” and George Frideric Handel’s “Flute Sonata in D,” as well as a handful of traditional Christmas tunes. JAARS presents ‘Passport to Christmas’

WAXHAW – The JAARS Center will present “Passport to Christmas” Dec. 19 and 20, a Wednesday and Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Children ages 6 to 12, along with a parent, are invited to attend this event, which tells how Christmas impacts people around the world.

Those who attend will explore other languages and cultures by making crafts, hearing stories, tasting foods from other countries and seeing how the “Jesus” film is dubbed into other languages. They’ll also get a chance to have their photo taken with a mock Kodiak airplane.

‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ comes to Stallings UMC

STALLINGS – The children and youth drama teams of Stallings United Methodist Church are putting on their second annual stage production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Landon Barbee benefit barbecue

MONROE – Grace United Methodist Church will host a pork and chicken barbecue on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to benefit church member Landon Barbee.

On Aug. 14, 12-year-old Landon lost part of his left leg in an accident while helping his dad cut a field. He spent 41 days at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte and is now home recovering and continuing schooling through a homebound program.

Doctors expect Landon to begin the fitting process for a prosthesis sometime in February 2013. Proceeds from the barbecue will help Landon’s family cover medical expenses. For more information, call 704-289-4333.

Operation Care Basic Needs Drive at First Baptist Indian Trail

INDIAN TRAIL – First Baptist Church of Indian Trail will host its Operation Care Basic Needs Drive from Nov. 11 to Dec. 9. The church will collect nonperishable food items, baby supplies and more to help meet basic needs of those in the community.

Pick up a few extra cans of food, baby products or clothing items during your weekly run to the store, bring your items to the church on Sundays and simply leave them beside your car to be picked up.

Volunteers will sort and distribute the donations to local families in need.

Bon Noel: One event, three experiences

MONROE – Lee Park Church will present an all-new Bon Noel from the church’s ever-popular Signature Event Series on Dec. 8, a Saturday. The event takes place at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the church.
