MONROE – Literacy Council of Union County recently received a $5,970 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The grant will be used to help adults who read at beginner levels develop their reading, writing and listening skills as a foundation for basic English education.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants to organizations in communities served by Dollar General. There are eight stores in Union County. Since 1993 the foundation has awarded more than $71.2 million in grants to nonprofits.
