MATTHEWS – Bright Blessings, a local nonprofit serving homeless children and families across the greater Charlotte region, hosts family-friendly service activities every Friday this summer, beginning June 15.
Each Friday at the nonprofit’s Matthews facility, The Giving Village, two morning sessions will be offered for registered participants to participate in family-friendly projects such as making pillows for care bags, creating themed birthday gift sets, making gift tags, filling treat bags and decorating wrapping paper. All activities and projects will directly support the more than 3,000 local homeless children served by the organization’s Bless-A-Birthday and Bless-A-Baby programs.
As the number of homeless families in Charlotte has continued to rise – jumping 60 percent since 2009 – Bright Blessings also has worked to increase its program services to meet the rising needs. In April, the organization’s programs celebrated birthdays and new baby arrivals for more than 200 local homeless children.
Bright Blessings will host its first Family Fun Service Day on Friday, June 15. To register and for a full schedule of dates, session times and project details, visit www.BrightBlessingsUSA.org. Space is limited for each session and advance registration is required.
