Arts Council accepting grassroots funding applications

MONROE — The Union County Community Arts Council is accepting applications for its Grassroots Arts Program grants for the 2012-13 year. Grants will be issued for cultural arts projects, events and services that occur between July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

Funds are available to non-profit, tax-exempt organizations whose purpose is to promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Union County.

A program of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, the Grassroots Arts Program grants have been offered by the Union County Community Arts Council since 1987. A committee consisting of council board members and Union County residents will review grant requests. Funding decisions will be made by the board of directors and grants awarded when the North Carolina General Assembly adopts a budget.
