MONROE – As part of Union County Public Library’s ongoing participation in the national commemoration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial, local author and historian Dan Korn will present a program, “The Civil War at Sea” in the Griffin Room of the Monroe Library at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 7.
Korn’s presentation focuses on the sometimes neglected, yet pivotal role naval engagements played in the outcome of the Civil War. Topics include the Union Blockade of the South, and the introduction of revolutionary naval technologies such as ironclad warships and submarines.
A question and answer session will follow Korn’s presentation.
