MONROE – The Union County Public Library and Union Smart Start hosts Our Family Literacy workshop April 25 at 5 p.m. at the Monroe Public Library. The workshop promotes the importance of early literacy by teaching parents how to help their children become ready to read.
Pregnant women, parents or grandparents who have children under 5 years old can participate. Each workshop consists of four, 45-minute sessions each week.
Participating families will receive one free book per session for their child (total of four books at the end of the fourth session), tips and free activities to help ready their child ready to read when they enter kindergarten, and one free educational toy per family attending all four sessions.
