The Monroe Housing Authority will receive $239,942 in federal funds this year. The money comes as part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, issued through the 2012 Capital Fund Program.
“We are in the process of doing capital improvements and this funding will help a whole lot,” Monroe Housing Authority Executive Director Anna McRae said in a press release.
The Capital Fund provides federal funding annually through HUD to public housing agencies for capital and management activities, including modernization and development of public housing. Congressman Larry Kissell’s office helped Monroe Housing secure the grant.
“It’s great we could get this grant for the Monroe Housing Authority,” Monroe Mayor Bobby Kilgore said in a prepared statement. “I thank Congressman Kissell for his help in securing the grant, for his continued work for our community and all he has done in the past for the City of Monroe.”
