Weddington Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Barry’s campaign for congressional office received a boost this week, with endorsements coming from six local officials and two former state officials. Former North Carolina Governor Jim Martin endorsed Barry, along with former Ninth District Congressman Alex McMillan. His successor, Sue Myrick, announced her retirement this month, opening up a vacant chair that Barry and others from the Mecklenburg side of the district have filed to run for. Also endorsing Barry was current Weddington mayor Walker Davidson, Wesley Chapel mayor Brad Horvath, Mineral Springs mayor pro tem Jerry Countryman, Waxhaw mayor pro tem Erin Kirkpatrick, Weddington council member Pam Hadley and Mineral Springs council member Peggy Neil.
