Wingate University students celebrated taking the “day off” on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday by making it a “day on” with service in the community. Approximately 40 students volunteered at the Turning Point shelter and boutique, equine rescue group CERA in Wingate and Miss Suzy’s Y in Willow Oaks.
“The students were really excited to get out and participate,” Lauren Marin, director of community service initiatives, said. “The organizations wanted to know when our students could come back because they got a lot of work done.”
