For the third year in a row, Stallings mayor Lynda Paxton will serve as the vice chair for the Mecklenburg Union Metropolitan Planning Organization. Paxton was voted in for a third term Wednesday, Jan. 18, during the group’s first meeting of the year. Union County commission chair Jerry Simpson nominated Paxton for the seat, with Weddington’s representative Barbara Harrison nominating Waxhaw mayor Daune Gardner. Paxton received all but two votes from the board, winning re-election.
Mint Hill Mayor Ted Biggers was re-elected unanimously for another term as chairman. The board helps control where road construction funding is directed for Mecklenburg and Union counties.
