A class of seventh-graders at Parkwood Middle School embraced the holiday spirit this year by helping out with their school’s Angel Tree program.
School officials decorated the tree with angel tags detailing the needs of Parkwood students, who remain anonymous. This year, the seventh-graders in Rebecca Swiger’s homeroom selected two angels from the tree. Swiger kept an envelope at the front of the room where students could place donations, and after several weeks the class raised $298.
To protect the anonymity of the recipients, the teacher purchased and pre-wrapped the gifts. Students then wrapped the gifts in holiday paper during class Dec. 8.
