The Union County Department of Inspection reported Monday, Dec. 19 that developers are building smaller facilities, as the construction costs associated with new building permits has decreased 36.88 percent since November 2010.
All total, 95 new building permits were issued in November, one more than in November 2010. However, the cost of the 95 permits, $7,587,638, is nearly $450,000 less than last November’s 94 permits.
Last month, the County issued five commercial permits and 90 residential permits, which included 24 accessory – new, 11 single family – addition, 33 single family – new and 22 single family – renovation. Only one of the permits, a single family structure, had a construction cost exceeding $500,000.
