Union County finalized an agreement with the towns of Unionville and Fairview Dec. 19, concerning the Piedmont landfill.
Earlier this year, county commissioners approved a price increase to 75 cents per bag, that solved the cost issues at each of the facilities. The town councils from Fairview and Unionville wanted to provide services for their residents, so they entered into a contract with Union County.
Each party agreed to fund one-third of the deficit, if costs ever exceed the revenues generated from the facility again. The maximum amount for which the two towns will be responsible is $8,000 per fiscal year.
