Stallings Town Council: Fred Weber

I am seeking the District 5 position on the Stallings Town Council because I believe I can make a difference by working with the council and the residents over the next few years.
I was employed for 38 years with the same public utility company, the last 10 years as a management supervisor of junior engineers. I spent 30 years as a volunteer fire fighter, 25 years as an officer including 4 years as chief of the department. I was secretary to a publicly elected board of fire commissioners, President of the Southold, NY Fire Chiefs Association and liaison from the Town of Southold Fire Chief’s Association to the Suffolk County New York Arson squad.
I was chairman of the planning board in a town in northern Massachusetts. We had no traffic light, one stop sign and a part time police chief. A very small town, but we did rewrite the planning code that I believe was originally written with a feathered quill pen.
In my seven years living in Stallings, I volunteered for a short time for the American Red Cross. I served four years as a Director of the Callonwood HOA, two of those years as president.   Presently I serve on the Town of Stallings Public Safety Advisory Board.
Having spent a great portion of my life volunteering has given me the experience to deal with many different types of people in a multitude of situations.
But this should not be about me. This is about the direction the residents of Stallings want the town to move in over the next few years, important years in the history of a fairly young community. In the past I have supported and will continue to support the Stallings police, fire and EMS departments that serve the town. Keeping taxes as low as possible without sacrificing our safety and our present way of life is one of my top goals. In a time when many families are barely making it due to increased food and fuel costs we cannot add to their misery by raising taxes. As a member of one, on a panel of six voting members, I cannot make promises or commitments. However I will listen to the residents of Stallings and cast my vote based on what the residents want and what my commonsense dictates. Please cast your vote for Fred Weber for Stallings Town Council Nov. 8.
