Pet owners and their animals will have free reign throughout downtown Monroe April 2, as part of the third annual Union County Dog Walk.
There will be demonstrations, adoptable dogs, vendors, contests, giveaways and raffles, music, food, and contests as well as a 1.7 mile walk around the area. The contests include tricks, best dog costume, best kisser, owner/dog look-a-like, best groomed and best in show.
“Dog lovers really enjoy taking their pets to special events,” event coordinator Kim Wolfe said.
Registration begins at 8:30 followed by the walk at 9:30am. Registration is $10 per dog in advance or $15 at the event. Dogs should be at least four months old, be on a six foot (or less) leash and wear a rabies tag or have proof of vaccinations. Owners should be 16 or older and are limited to two dogs each. Scooping is required and dogs should not be in heat.
