Search continues after two cases in Stallings, Monroe
Police departments in Monroe and Stallings are asking for help in identifying suspects in two seperate robberies over the last week. On Saturday, April 9, two black men entered the Stallings VIPS Mart just after 9:30 p.m, with one of the men pulling out a handgun and demanding money from the register, according to police. The clerk at the business, located at 2700 Old Monroe Road, complied, giving an estimated $900. Afterward, the suspects took off running out the door.
Witnesses describe the suspects as two men in their early 20’s. One is estimated at 5’6, about 120 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and black pants, with a black cloth covering his lower face. The second suspect is described as also 5’6, about 160 pounds, wearing blue jeans with the initials MFT on the front. The second suspect also was wearing a black and red ball cap, along with white tennis shoes.

The next day, robbers also targeted Monroe’s Kay Jewelers location in the Poplin Place Shopping Center. The incident happened around 1:45 p.m., as two black men entered the store, both carrying handguns, telling customers and employees to get on the floor face down. They demanded the money in the register, leaving with an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.
Witnesses described one of the men as being between 5’6 to 5’8 tall, with shiny metal front teeth and brown-tipped dreadlocks. He wore a red and green jacket, along with a dark colored baseball cap. He also wore dark sunglasses with a brown edge along the bottom of the lenses. The second suspect was about 5’8 to 5’10, witnesses said, also with long dreadlocks and wearing dark baggy clothes with a dark colored baseball cap that had a white A on the front.
