Last week’s edition of the Union County Weekly was terrific. I enjoyed reading everything in it. I found the article titled “Waxhaw reverses Decision” to be very interesting. I found Commissioner Kirkpatrick’s comments comical. This comment, “I in no way helped keep the seat vacant to give another board member an advantage,” Kirkpatrick said. “Some people think something funny’s going on, but that’s not the case.” Really, really funny. I mean come on, this Commissioner has broken ethics rules, tried to cheat the public, lied to the public and nothing funny is going on. Does she think we are stupid? Of course Commissioner Kirkpatrick wanted to give her buddy, Mayor Gardner an advantage. This was the best way to make sure Commisisoner Kirkpatrick would always get what she wants since the Mayor will always vote with her. This other comment, “That motion by me (to delay six months) was a spur of the moment decision, which came after our board failed to agree on a candidate,” town commissioner Erin Kirkpatrick said. “My goal is to find someone impartial, someone that will vote on issues rather than for friends.”
I mean this has to be the funniest of all. Impartial? Commissioner Kirkpatrick and Mayor Gardner are the least impartial people I have ever heard of. They continually try to break the rules to get what they want, as is documented by everything they have been pulling lately. And a spur of the moment decision, right Commissioner Kirkpatrick. You can’t tell me she did that spur of the moment, when that is what happened with her precious library. It was spite, pure and simple.
Commissioner Kirkpatrick changed her stance on this prior ruling because she knew she was about to be named in a lawsuit. Most of the town knew she was about to be named in a lawsuit. The way Commissioner Kirkpatrick and Mayor Gardner treat their title is as if they are entitled to rule over everyone and yet not care in the slightest for what is best for Waxhaw. These two women need to be forced to step down. They should not be allowed to vote on anything pertaining to a new commissioner or anything else that has any bearing on Waxhaw.
