For the first time in several years, the Indian Trail Pow Wow is returning to town.
The event, which in recent years moved out of town because it lacked space, will be held at new Crossing Paths Park Sept. 24 and 25. Officials from the Metrolina Native American Association said they are excited to bring the event back to Indian Trail.
“We are so excited to have the support of the town on this event,” association Chairman Jessie Jacobs said. “It’s such an important part of our history, and we’re glad it’s back in Indian Trail where it belongs.”
The event will include Native American dance, music, pottery and basket-weaving and bead-working exhibitions. More than 13 tribes from across North Carolina are expected to take part in the Pow Wow, bringing more than 5,000 visitors to Indian Trail.
“This event is part of our goal to provide great local amenities to our residents and visitors and to help build an identity for Indian Trail,” Town Manager Joe Fivas said.
