To update its electric mapping system, the city of Monroe is conducting a field inventory of its entire electric system.
That means collecting GPS locations of all poles and electric meters. The Davey Resource Group will be performing the inventory for the city, collecting data from all power poles, transformers and house meters, a process expected to last into 2012.
All staff members will have identification badges and a letter of authority. The process started last week in the area of East Franklin Street, and residents and businesses along Pageland Highway and White Store Road will see them next, along with the side streets off those roads.
