Sue Myrick will have a new chief of staff in March. Her office announced that Hal Weatherman, who had served in the position since 1998, is leaving next month to take a new job with a national non-profit.
“It’s been an awesome experience that I will treasure the rest of my life, but I’m ready to do something else, and this opportunity will allow me to focus on the national security issues that I care most about on a much larger scale,” Weatherman said.
He’ll take over as national communications and marketing director for Act for America, a group dedicated to national security and terrorism-related issues. The organization has 500 chapters and more than 160,000 members nationwide.
“It would be impossible to exaggerate Hal’s value to my office,” Myrick said in a statement. “This move affords him the ability to pursue a vital shared objective without government restrictions.”
Staff member Sarah Hale will take over as Myrick’s chief of staff.
