Elderly woman’s wheelchair stolen with car
Deputies were called to a home in the 5400 block of Stevens Mill Road Jan. 8, after thieves drove off with an elderly resident’s wheelchair and car. The woman said her $1,500 wheelchair was with her a 1988 Buick Century.
Vandals target local homes
Two Fairview residents returned home Jan. 8 to find vandals had visited the neighborhood. They smashed the mailboxes at two homes in the 9900 block of Machado Drive, causing an estimated $120 damage.
Arson suspected at local office
Deputies and the fire marshal’s office are suspicious of the cause of a Jan. 8 fire at the Coldwater Veneer facility, 100 Plyler Road. Authorities responded to the fire before 5 p.m. Fire marshals are not releasing what triggered the blaze, but did say they suspect arson.
Unlocked door leads to video game theft
A unlocked car gave thieves easy access to $60 in video games in the 1100 block of Warren Red Way on Jan. 7. The 21-year-old driver came outside to find the vehicle’s door open and the games missing.
Weddington Tools stolen from building
A resident at the 5100 block of Saddle Horn Trail returned home Jan. 8 to find more than $1,000 in belongings missing from out-building. Taken in the theft were a cordless drill, a power charger, a cell phone, a skill saw, a broom and dust pan and a framing gun.
