Union County got a clean bill of financial health Tuesday, Jan. 4.
John Kapelar, from the firm of Potter and Company, gave the board its 2009-10 External Audit Report. The firm reviewed county financial statements through June 30 and gave the district an unqualified audit opinion, the best ranking available for a government entity.
“Receiving an unqualified or clean opinion means that we feel Union County followed all accounting rules appropriately and that the financial reports are an accurate representation of the County’s financial condition,” Kapelar said.
Each year, the county conducts an analysis of its compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, contracts and grant agreements.
For the seventh consecutive year, the auditors found no significant problems in regards to financial issues.
