I am a Waxhaw resident who loves to support our local stores. We have a great town and wonderful shops. I have donated books to our local Waxhaw Reading Room (used bookstore) but have never shopped there. I was at a Waxhaw commissioners’ meeting in mid December to support a friend who was trying to get a permit for a new business. Towards the end of the meeting, I watched a woman wave a large flashlight at a girl named Lisa who was speaking, yell things at the girl and be plain rude. I was surprised our mayor did not stop this out-of-line behavior, and the police did not take the flashlight from the woman. It appeared to me to be meant as threatening. This whole meeting had been out of control, and not once did our mayor step in to get it back under control. A couple of days later, I went to the Waxhaw Reading Room excited to do some shopping for Christmas. I was shocked when I saw this same woman working there. I will never again go into the Waxhaw Reading Room, and I will donate my books to a church. I am disappointed that our library board allows this woman to represent them.
