Sometimes, being responsible means doing things we don’t want to, like fixing your predecessors’ error or keeping a county manager in place. For a county struggling with debt, it doesn’t make fiscal sense to hand out $155,000 like candy, just so you can pick the manager of your choice.
Let me be clear, I’m not a fan of the current board picking a candidate without getting input from the new majority. I don’t care if that’s how they were treated. That doesn’t mean they should retaliate in kind. Regardless of how it happened, the manager is in place. Why should we take on more debt?
I see nothing in this candidate’s background making her unfit, and unless more information comes out proving so, I say keep her on. It’s time we Republicans proved to be fiscally conservative once more.
