I just wanted to take a minute to thank the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department for their prompt action on the morning of Oct. 7th. The swift action of our fire department and those from Mineral Springs, Providence, and Wesley Chapel meant a potentially devastating fire was contained to a limited area. The fact that the fire had begun to consume a gas station made it particularly dangerous, but the men and women of our fire departments handily brought it under control before any explosive materials were compromised, thus, saving structures, lives, and livelihoods.
This particular disaster gave our community an opportunity to show what we are made of too. The Waxhaw Fire Department, with its training and leadership, was able to band together with other stations, public service personnel, and the Waxhaw Police Department to ensure that at no time, was the safety of any life in danger. The Museum of the Waxhaws saw an opportunity also. They saw a problem (no karate classes for the children) and opened their doors to help out too.
My hat’s off to you all. Thank you for all that you do. Great job.
