INDIAN TRAIL – Samaritan’s Feet International gave away 1,500 pairs of shoes as part of a back-to-school event Aug. 5 at Carolina Courts.
Each person also received a new pair of shoes and socks and had their feet washed by community volunteers.
“This event is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate students as they prepare to go back to school,” said Manny Ohonme, CEO and co-founder of Samaritan’s Feet International. “As volunteers serve them one-on-one, they’ll encourage them to do their best in school and pursue their dreams.
Samaritan’s Feet Back to School events help prepare students materially, physically and spiritually for the new school year. This event is part of the nationwide Samaritan’s Feet 2018 Back to School program, with a goal of distributing more than 40,000 pairs of shoes and socks to children in 71 U.S. cities.
