MATTHEWS – The 25th anniversary of Matthews Alive generated $141,207 for area charities, including the Marvin Ridge and Sun Valley high school bands.
Organizers distributed proceeds to nearly 40 nonprofits during the Matthews commissioners meeting Oct. 23 at Matthews Town Hall.
“Wonderful weather, sponsors and attendees made for a super weekend, and a great give-back to our non-profit partners,” said Lee Anne Moore, executive director of Matthews Alive.
Sales from rides, games, attractions, food vendor and craft booth rentals, and sponsorships generate the proceeds from the Labor Day weekend festival. At least 2,200 volunteers and representatives from more than 40 nonprofits helped.
