National expert to discuss bullying, school safety

WEDDINGTON – Author Phil Chalmers will speak to parents April 18 about teen bullying and his 25 years of research into school shootings.

The two-hour presentation, starting at 6 p.m. at Weddington High School, will focus on shooting deaths in schools across the country and other problems bullying can cause on campus. Chalmers interviewed school shooters and more than 200 teens for his books, “Inside the Mind of a Teen Killer” and “True Lies: 40 Lies That Are Killing This Generation,” and uses that experience to educate parents.

The presentation is free to attend. Contact the schools’ resource officers or Deputy Louie Rodriquez of the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 704-989-3762 or to get a ticket.

Weddington High is at 4901 Weddington Road.
