INDIAN TRAIL – More than 30 vehicles of all shapes, sizes and uses will descend on Chestnut Square Park for the Indian Trail Touch-a-Truck festival.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 23, is a partnership between the Town of Indian Trail and the Union County Public Works Department.
It will include law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, garbage trucks, a Zamboni from the Extreme Ice Center, the Coca-Cola Monster Truck and two historic pieces from VFW Post 2423.
Other attractions include a bounce house, face painting, food trucks and a quiet hour from 10 to 11 a.m., in which no sirens or lights will be used. All sirens and horns will be sounded at noon. MedCenter Air will land a helicopter at 11:15 a.m. The Stallings Fire Department will give a Jaws of Life demonstration at 1 p.m.
“Our Touch-a-Truck festival is a great opportunity for kids and the young at heart to get hands-on with emergency vehicles, service vehicles and even some of the big toys our Public Works Department gets to play with every day,” said Hayden Kramer, the town’s special event coordinator. “Not only that, but families will get to talk with the Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies and our staff who operate these vehicles to learn about how they work and some of the cool things they are capable of.”
Chestnut Square Park is located at 320 Chestnut Pkwy.
