MONROE – The theme of the sixth annual Union County Heritage Festival will be “Sweet Union: Still Growing Community.”
The festival celebrates the county’s natural, cultural and historical heritage. The theme will also observe contributions made by the NC Cooperative Extension in helping people improve the quality of their lives through education.
Highlights include a vendor fair, entertainment, food, games, children’s activities, free talks, arts and crafts demonstrations, raffles and cooking demonstrations.
The event coincides with the Union County 4-H Expo, which will feature a creative arts exhibit, bake-off, talent showcase, animal shows and safety demonstrations.
The Union County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association hosts the festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Union County Agricultural Center, 3230 Presson Road. The Wild Turkey 5K Trail Run and Walk starts at 8 a.m.
