MONROE – LaGeris Underwood Bell and Jeff Botz won Regional Artist Project Grants through the Union County Community Arts Council.
Grants provide up to $2,000 to use toward training or equipment.
Bell, a TV producer, will use her grant award to develop a crowdsourcing website to raise money to support her documentary based on Union County author Gene Stowe’s “Inherit the Land.”
The book recounts how a white family in Union County who, in the early 1900s, bequeathed a fortune to the African American branch of their family.
Botz will use his grant to buy a field view camera for distance photographing. His work has taken the New York University graduate to the Himalayas.
“As an arts council, our goal is to assist artists by providing services and opportunities that help them evolve as artists,” Executive Director Barbara Faulk said.
